what do you think about a biotech website geared towards the general public?

I think it's a great idea. The general public is pretty misinformed when it comes to science but maybe it's because they don't have a resource.

That depends on the website. If it conveys information accurately and correctly in a way that the general public will learn from, that's great. If it says that you should sacrifice a goat to ward off evil spirits you might want to look elsewhere for your biotech information!
